Rug Company, New York

The story

A New York rug company sells to retail buyers and to trade buyers. Both reach it through one digital platform: a website, an admin panel, and apps for Android and iOS.

The platform was a legacy system built in PHP on the Yii framework, and it ran the company’s inventory and prices. The company needed someone to maintain it and keep adding to it.

On an old system, a small change can break something somewhere else. So our rule was to keep complexity to a minimum.

Over six years, starting in 2020, we worked through many enterprise issues, and some of them were unusual problems with no ready answer. We also built new modules on the platform for generating orders and quotes.

What we did

• Maintained and corrected the website, the admin panel and the Android and iOS apps.
• Built modules for generating orders and quotes.
• Added fields, filters, reports and utilities as the company needed them.
• Kept the website working across browsers.
