Paint Carrying and Forwarding Agent, Agra

The story

An Agra firm works as a carrying and forwarding agent for paint companies. Every week its staff made around 100 challans by hand, each from a spreadsheet a paint company had sent.

Each company sent its sheet in its own format. In 2013 the agent asked us for a tool that would turn those sheets into challans.

The tool reads each company’s Excel sheet, maps it into the agent’s own format and produces the challans as PDFs through a reporting tool. The staff work in a tier-2 city office, so we kept each batch to a few clicks and made the tool easy to pick up.

What we built

• A data conversion and reporting tool made for the agent’s work.
• Mapping from each paint company’s sheet format to the agent’s own.
• Challans produced as PDFs, in a few clicks per batch.

Results

A week of challans by hand now takes about 15 minutes.
